More than two thirds (68 per cent) said they would be devastated if they didn't have their pet, with 61 per cent comparing the loss to losing a friend. A sample of 1,048 drivers between 18-25 were questioned online between 28th April to 2nd May 2006. A sample of 289 non-driving 18-25 year olds were questioned online between 5th and 8th May.
